Music Bookkeeping from a Music Maker
Hi, I’m Mark, and I’ve been playing music since I was 10 years old. I started with drums in the school band, formed a rock band with my friends in high school, started DJ’ing in college, and took up electronic production during grad school. In 2017 I became techno artist Mark Wise, and that’s where the real story begins.
This was when I started treating music like a business instead of a hobby. Developing a sound, creating branding, investing in marketing, working with a manager, tracking my income and expenses, networking, and learning to navigate the industry.
The Turning Point
It was slow going until March 27, 2022. On the final night of Ultra Music Festival in Miami, the legendary DJ Carl Cox opened his set with one of my tracks, and people took notice.
Since then the list of DJs supporting my music has grown to include other techno and hard techno heavyweights like Vendex, Nakadia, Fjaak, Brennen Grey, Spartaque, Cosmic Boys, Juliet Fox, and more.
In 2023, one year after Carl Cox introduced me to the world, my signature sound fully materialized with the release of my most popular track “The Fire Within” – a fusion of modern techno beats with metal guitars and vocals that I call heavy metal techno.
Chart Success
My original songs and remixes have scored a slew of Top 100 chart appearances, including a #1 iTunes dance track in Costa Rica following Carl Cox's support and multiple #1 Hard Techno releases on Beatport.
Performances and Events
I've performed at shows in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, including both external DJ bookings and my own planned events. Since 2024 I've organized events under my brand Rock N Rave, with a peak attendance of over 700 in April 2025.
