Before I became a certified bookkeeper, I spent years as a Carrier Compliance Data Analyst at Uber Freight — reviewing 1,200–2,000 shipments a month and categorizing each one based on the issues involved and the parties responsible. If that sounds familiar, it should: it’s essentially the same skill bookkeeping requires — categorizing financial transactions based on the nature of the transaction and how the money actually moved. I didn’t start my career in bookkeeping, but I was doing bookkeeping’s cousin.
That work came with real numbers attached:
In parallel with all of that, I was already keeping books — just amateurly. As a music producer, DJ, and social media creator running my own side business, I did my own bookkeeping the way most small business owners do: DIY, self-taught, and full of the mistakes that come with both. I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to mix business and personal funds, put off reconciling for too long, and realize too late that a mess has been quietly building.
All that experience made the change to professional bookkeeping a natural choice. I’ve cleaned up my own books, learned the systems that prevent those mistakes in the first place, and now I use my unique skills and experience to help other business owners avoid the pitfalls I had to learn the hard way.
Earned a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering and an MBA in Supply Chain Management.
